The art of the deal

I bet you’d like my apple juice? I’m sure we can arrive at a mutually acceptable deal. How can you possibly say no to an aspiring capitalist who is finally freed from the bonds of sisterly sharing? Gone are my obligations to offer my sippy cup to Izzie, receiving nothing in return. Now I’m ready to bask in the glory of globalization. I’m ready to be driven by the spirit of entrepreneurship, aided by a thousand-watt smile that can seal any potential deal. If you want my apple juice, it won’t come cheap. It might just cost you a cookie and a cheese stick, and that is before interest. And you don’t want to meet my enforcer. She may look like a silly, little golden retriever, but the last thing you want is to have her enforce my terms.

Pretty in pink

Mid-winter Saturday mornings can be so dreary. With each falling snowflake, I feel more entrapped in our house. And the freezing rain just reinforces this rather bleak outlook. Izzie and I, however, are not content with this seasonal malaise and we’re prepared to fight back. The first step is donning our happiness outfit, which includes red shirts, pink hats, fluffy pink scarves and big smiles. Of course, ponytails are an added bonus that comes in especially handy with the mercury dips below minus-20. Now we’re ready for a full-on happiness offensive. We giggle, wiggle and offer little girly kisses to anyone who enters our home. Perhaps that’s why Belle never leaves the front door, but she just has to learn to stop licking our faces.

Giddyup

Will someone explain to me the intricacies of riding off into the sunset? With the Hollywood writers’ strike now over, I thought I’d plan my debut on the silver screen. I’ve got my sunglasses and a horse, every star needs a horse. And let’s face it, I have the attitude. For reasons passing understanding, my career seems to be stuck in neutral, rocking back and forth.
What is a little girl to do if she wants to break this cycle? Maybe like Barack, I need to stand for change. Or should I need to be more like Hillary and be ready on day one. Decisions, decisions.
